The Spartan Motor Chassis Inc. subsidiary of Spartan Motors Inc. has hired Randolph Knors, an experienced factory manager from outside the RV industry, as the director of operations at its motorhome chassis assembly facilities in Charlotte, Mich.
Knors joins Spartan from leather goods manufacturer Eagle Ottawa, where he managed seven North American plants with more than 3,400 employees. He also has management-level experience at auto components supplier Tenneco and diversified manufacturer Siemens.
“Randy’s background and expertise will be important as we look to improve our manufacturing productivity and product quality while we wage our war on waste,” said John Sztykiel, president and CEO of Spartan Motors.
“We have made significant improvements in our operations by implementing lean manufacturing practices, but there is more work to do in this area,” Sztykiel said. “We will continue to strengthen our team and focus on becoming the lowest total cost producer in the industries we serve.”
In addition to supplying diesel pusher and mid-engine diesel chassis to motorhome manufacturers, Spartan Motors also owns ambulance manufacturer Road Rescue Inc. and rescue vehicle manufacturers Crimson Fire and Quality Manufacturing.
Sztykiel promoted Rich Schalter, Spartan Motors’ CFO and executive vice president, to the position of president of Spartan Motor Chassis early last year.
