Canadian towable sales edged up 3.5% for the first six months of 2018, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI).
Results by segment showed:
• Travel trailer sales gained 4.2% year-over-year through June.
• Canadian fifth-wheel sales edged up 2.1% for the six months.
• Folding camping trailer registrations fell 5.5% through June.
• Park model RVs fell 16.7% for the first six months on low volume.
Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towable sales leader through June with a 53.5% market share, ahead of Forest River Inc. (34.2%) and Grand Design RV Co. (5.5%).
Thor was the leader in travel trailer sales for the six months, claiming a 55.1% market share, followed by Forest River (34.3%) and Grand Design (3.5%). Thor was also No. 1 in Canadian fifth-wheel sales, capturing a 53.2% market share, followed by Forest River (25.8%) and Grand Design (17.1%).
Forest River led Canadian folding camping trailer sales through June with a 72.1% market share while Thor posted a 15.8% share. Woodland Park topped the park model RV segment with a 40% market share.
