Canadian towable sales retreated 13.4% for the first 11 months of 2019, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI).
Results by segment showed:
- Travel trailer sales fell 12.3% year-over-year through November.
- Canadian fifth-wheel sales dropped 18% for the first 11 months.
- Folding camping trailer registrations declined 17.6% through November.
- Park model sales were up 13.3% for the 11 months on low volume.
Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towable sales leader through November with a 50.3% market share, ahead of Forest River Inc. (36.3%) and Grand Design RV Co. (7.1%).
Thor was the leader in travel trailer sales for the 11 months, claiming a 51.7% market share, followed by Forest River (36.4%) and Grand Design (5%). Thor was also No. 1 in Canadian fifth-wheel sales, capturing a 50.8% market share, followed by Forest River (27.2%) and Grand Design (18.9%).
Forest River led folding camping trailer sales through November with an 84.5% market share while Thor posted a 9.5% share and Columbia Northwest garnered a 4.2% share. Woodland Park topped park model sales with a 41.2% share followed by Forest River (31.4%) and Cavco Industries Inc. (21.6%).
