Canadian towable sales remained flat in 2018, edging up 2.1% for the first three months of 2018.
According to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI), results by segment showed:
• Travel trailer sales edged up 5.1% year-over-year through March.
• Canadian fifth-wheel sales fell 7.2% for the three months.
• Folding camping trailer registrations tumbled 17.7% through March.
• Three park model RVs were sold in the first three months.
Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towable sales leader through March with a 54.3% market share, ahead of Forest River Inc. (31.9%) and Grand Design RV Co. (7%).
Thor was the leader in travel trailer sales for the three months, claiming a 56.3% market share, followed by Forest River (32.1%) and Grand Design (4.7%). Thor was also No. 1 in Canadian fifth-wheel sales, capturing a 50.5% market share, followed by Forest River (24.5%) and Grand Design (19.9%).
Forest River led year-to-date Canadian folding camping trailer sales with an 72.7% market share while Thor posted a 17.4% share.
