Canadian towable sales retreated 18.2% for the first two months of 2019, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI).

Results by segment showed:

• Travel trailer sales fell 18.7% year-over-year through February.

• Canadian fifth-wheel sales tumbled 16.1% for the two months.

• Folding camping trailer registrations fell 21.2% through February on low volume.

• Two park model RVs were sold in the first two months.

Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towable sales leader through February with a 52.6% market share, ahead of Forest River Inc. (30.2%) and Grand Design RV Co. (8.3%).

Thor was the leader in travel trailer sales for the two months, claiming a 54% market share, followed by Forest River (30.3%) and Grand Design (6.3%). Thor was also No. 1 in Canadian fifth-wheel sales, capturing a 50.4% market share, followed by Forest River (26.1%) and Grand Design (18.1%).

Forest River led year-to-date Canadian folding camping trailer sales with a 73.1% market share while Thor posted a 15.4% share.
