Canadian towable sales retreated 16.9% for the first three months of 2019, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI).

Results by segment showed:

• Travel trailer sales fell 17.4% year-over-year through March.

• Canadian fifth-wheel sales dropped 15.4% for the two months.

• Folding camping trailer registrations declined 13.3% through March on low volume.

• Five park model RVs were sold in the first three months.

Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towable sales leader through March with a 52.1% market share, ahead of Forest River Inc. (31.7%) and Grand Design RV Co. (8.2%).

Thor was the leader in travel trailer sales for the three months, claiming a 54.2% market share, followed by Forest River (31.8%) and Grand Design (5.8%). Thor was also No. 1 in Canadian fifth-wheel sales, capturing a 48% market share, followed by Forest River (24.8%) and Grand Design (21.6%).

Forest River led year-to-date Canadian folding camping trailer sales with a 73% market share while Thor posted a 15.3% share and Columbia Northwest garnered 7.2%
