Canadian towable sales edged up 4.8% for the first five months of 2018. According to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI), results by segment showed:

• Travel trailer sales gained 6.2% year-over-year through May.

• Canadian fifth-wheel sales edged up 0.3% for the five months.

• Folding camping trailer registrations fell 5.2% through May.

• Six park model RVs were sold in May.

Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towable sales leader through May with a 53.5% market share, ahead of Forest River Inc. (34.1%) and Grand Design RV Co. (5.5%).

Thor was the leader in travel trailer sales for the five months, claiming a 55% market share, followed by Forest River (34.3%) and Grand Design (3.5%). Thor was also No. 1 in Canadian fifth-wheel sales, capturing a 53.4% market share, followed by Forest River (25.6%) and Grand Design (17%).

Forest River led Canadian folding camping trailer sales through May with a 71.6% market share while Thor posted a 15.4% share.
