Editor’s Note: The data for October Canadian towable sales in the New Brunswick province was incomplete and are not included in totals. To offer a fair comparison the New Brunswick totals for 2013 have also been removed.

Year-over-year Canadian towable sales edged down 1.2% in October and 5.4% for the first 10 months, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc.

Results by segment showed:

• Sales in the travel trailer sector dipped 1.8% in October and 3.5% year-to-date.

• Canadian fifth-wheel sales were flat for the month, up 1.1%, and declined 8.25% for the 10 months.

• Folding camping trailer registrations declined 13.6% in October and 18.9% year-to-date.

• Canadian sales of recreational park trailers gained 7.4% for the month but declined 31% year-to-date.

Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towables sales leader through October with a 38.2% market share, followed by Forest River Inc. (32%) and Jayco Inc. (16.3%).

Thor was also the leader in travel trailer sales for the 10 months, holding a 37.6% market share, while Forest River was No. 2 (30.2%), followed by Jayco (17.4%).

Thor was the leader in the Canadian fifth-wheel sector year-to-date, capturing a 48% market share, with Forest River at No. 2 posting a 32.6% share, followed by Jayco at 10.4%.

In the park model sector, Thor captured a 44.1% market share while Forest River garnered a 25.5% share, followed by General Coach (11.1%). Forest River led the Canadian folding camping trailer sales for the 10 months with a 63.6% market share while Jayco posted a 28.8% share.
