Year-over-year Canadian towable sales declined 16% in June and 12.7% for the first six months, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI).

Results by segment showed:

• Sales in the travel trailer sector fell 15.5% in June and 11.7% year-to-date.

• Canadian fifth-wheel sales declined 16.3% for the month and 16.2% through June.

• Folding camping trailer registrations fell 18.5% in June and 12.6% year-to-date.

• Canadian recreational park trailers were down 51% for the month and 31.6% for the six months.

Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towable sales leader through June with a 39.4% market share, followed by Forest River Inc. (32.2%) and Jayco Inc. (18.5%).

Thor was the leader in travel trailer sales for the six months, holding a 39.7% market share, while Forest River was No. 2 (31%), followed by Jayco (19.6%). Thor was also No. 1 in the Canadian fifth-wheel sales, capturing a 46.4% market share, with Forest River at No. 2 posting a 31.2% share, followed by Jayco (11.9%) and Grand Design RV Co. (5.6%).

Forest River led year-to-date Canadian folding camping trailer sales with a 60.8% market share while Jayco posted a 31.1% share. Thor led the park model sector for the six months with a 52.7% market share while Forest River owned 16.1% of the market and General Coach 14%.
