                                                                                                                                               Year-over-year Canadian towable sales edged down 6.6% in April and 1.5% for the first four months, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI).

Results by segment showed:

• Sales in the travel trailer sector fell 5.5% in April and 1.2% year-to-date.

• Canadian fifth-wheel sales declined 12.8% for the month and 3.3% through April.

• Folding camping trailer registrations were rose 5.8% in April and 3% year-to-date.

• Canadian recreational park trailers were down 12.5% for the month but rose 13% for the four months.

Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towable sales leader through April with a 38.5% market share, followed by Forest River Inc. (32.1%) and Jayco Inc. (18.7%).

Thor was the leader in travel trailer sales for the four months, holding a 38.6% market share, while Forest River was No. 2 (31%), followed by Jayco (19.9%). Thor was also No. 1 in the Canadian fifth-wheel sector, capturing a 45.6% market share, with Forest River at No. 2 posting a 30.8% share, followed by Jayco (11.9%) and Grand Design RV Co. (7.5%).

Forest River led year-to-date Canadian folding camping trailer sales with a 59.9% market share while Jayco posted a 30.8% share. Thor led the park model sector for the quarter with a 53.8% market share while Forest River owned 23.1% of the market and General Coach 11.5%.
