Year-over-year Canadian towable sales edged up 2% in January, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc.
Results by segment showed:
• Sales in the travel trailer sector rose 7.6% in January.
• Fifth-wheel sales decreased 10.3% for the month.
• Folding camping trailer registrations declined 41.7% in January on low volume.
• One park trailer RV was sold in January.
Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towable sales leader in January with a 54.7% market share, followed by Forest River Inc. (31.7%) and Grand Design (7.2%). Thor was also the leader in travel trailer sales for the month, holding a 57.3% market share, topping Forest River (32.1%).
Thor was the leader in the Canadian fifth-wheel sector in January, capturing a 48.7% market share, followed by Forest River (27.4%) and Grand Design (19.5%). In the park model sector, Thor and Woodland Park each sold one unit in January.
Forest River led Canadian folding camping trailer sales for the month with an 85.7% market share while Thor posted a 14.3% share.
