Editor’s Note: The data for September Canadian towable sales in the New Brunswick province was incomplete and are not included in totals. To offer a fair comparison the New Brunswick totals for 2013 have also been removed.

Year-over-year Canadian towable sales edged up 1.2% in September but showed a 5.8% decline for the first nine months, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc.

Results by segment showed:

• Sales in the travel trailer sector rose 2.7% in September but fell 3.7% year-to-date.

• Canadian fifth-wheel sales were flat for the month, up 0.7%, and declined 9.1% for the nine months.

• Folding camping trailer registrations declined 17.1% in September and 19.1% year-to-date.

• Canadian sales of recreational park trailers dropped 23.5% for the month and 34.3% year-to-date.

Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towables sales leader through September with a 38.2% market share, followed by Forest River Inc. (32%) and Jayco Inc. (16.4%).

Thor was also the leader in travel trailer sales for the nine months, holding a 37.6% market share, while Forest River was No. 2 (30.1%), followed by Jayco (17.5%).

Thor was the leader in the Canadian fifth-wheel sector year-to-date, capturing a 47.9% market share, with Forest River at No. 2 posting a 32.7% share, followed by Jayco at 10.5%. In the park model sector, Thor captured a 44.2% market share while Forest River garnered a 21.8% share, followed by General Coach (12.1%).

Forest River led Canadian folding camping trailer sales for the nine months with a 63.8% market share while Jayco posted a 28.8% share.
