Canadian towable sales posted a 12.4% gain for 2017, paced by improved performance in the travel trailer and fifth-wheel segments.

According to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI), results by segment showed:

• Travel trailer sales grew 13.9% for 2017.

• Canadian fifth-wheel sales were up 9.8% for the 12 months.

• Folding camping trailer registrations dipped 3.7% through December.

• Park model RV sales rose by 10 units for the 12 months.

Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towable sales leader for the full year with a 55.1% market share, ahead of Forest River Inc. which claimed a 33.4% share.

Thor was the leader in travel trailer sales for the 12 months, capturing a 56.4% market share, followed by Forest River (33.4%). Thor was also No. 1 in Canadian fifth-wheel sales, gaining a 56.6% market share, followed by Forest River (26.5%) and Grand Design RV Co. (12.3%).

Forest River led Canadian folding camping trailer sales in 2017 with a 69.3% market share while Thor posted a 20.6% share. Woodland Park was park model sales leader for the 12 months with a 39.1% market share followed by Forest River (25%) and Kropf Manufacturing (12.5%).
