Canadian towable sales retreated 14.1% for the first five months of 2019, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI).
Results by segment showed:
• Travel trailer sales fell 12.9% year-over-year through May.
• Canadian fifth-wheel sales dropped 19.6% for the first five months.
• Folding camping trailer registrations declined 19.3% through May on low volume.
Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towable sales leader through May with a 51.2% market share, ahead of Forest River Inc. (35.6%) and Grand Design RV Co. (6.6%).
Thor was the leader in travel trailer sales for the five months, claiming a 52.7% market share, followed by Forest River (35.6%) and Grand Design (4.6%). Thor was also No. 1 in Canadian fifth-wheel sales, capturing a 50.7% market share, followed by Forest River (27.1%) and Grand Design (19.1%).
Forest River led year-to-date Canadian folding camping trailer sales with a 79.8% market share while Thor posted a 13.3% share and Columbia Northwest garnered a 4% share.
