Canadian towable sales retreated 14.5% for the first six months of 2019, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI).
Results by segment showed:
- Travel trailer sales fell 13.1% year-over-year through June.
- Canadian fifth-wheel sales dropped 20.4% for the first six months.
- Folding camping trailer registrations declined 20.9% through June.
Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towable sales leader through June with a 50.9% market share, ahead of Forest River Inc. (36.1%) and Grand Design RV Co. (6.6%).
Thor was the leader in travel trailer sales for the six months, claiming a 52.3% market share, followed by Forest River (36.1%) and Grand Design (4.6%). Thor was also No. 1 in Canadian fifth-wheel sales, capturing a 51.1% market share, followed by Forest River (26.8%) and Grand Design (18.7%).
Forest River led year-to-date Canadian folding camping trailer sales with an 82% market share while Thor posted an 11.5% share and Columbia Northwest garnered a 4.3% share.
