Canadian towable sales retreated 14.1% for the first seven months of 2019, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI).
Results by segment showed:
- Travel trailer sales fell 12.9% year-over-year through July.
- Canadian fifth-wheel sales dropped 19.7% for the first seven months.
- Folding camping trailer registrations declined 18% through July.
- Park model sales grew 24.1% for the seven months on low volume.
Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towable sales leader through July with a 50.8% market share, ahead of Forest River Inc. (36.2%) and Grand Design RV Co. (6.7%).
Thor was the leader in travel trailer sales for the seven months, claiming a 52.3% market share, followed by Forest River (36.1%) and Grand Design (4.8%). Thor was also No. 1 in Canadian fifth-wheel sales, capturing a 51.3% market share, followed by Forest River (27.1%) and Grand Design (18.2%).
Forest River Canadian led folding camping trailer sales through July with an 84.4% market share while Thor posted a 10.2% share and Columbia Northwest garnered a 3.6% share. Woodland Park topped park model sales with a 44.4% share followed by Forest River (27.8%) and Cavco Industries Inc. (19.4%).
