Year-over-year Canadian towable sales fell 8.1% in February while showing a 5.6% decline for the first two months, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI).
Results by segment showed:
• Sales in the travel trailer sector decreased 5.3% in February and 4.7% year-to-date.
• Canadian fifth-wheel sales retreated 15.3% for the month and 6.7% through February.
• Folding camping trailer registrations dropped 31% in February and 19.6% year-to-date.
• One park model RV was shipped for the month.
Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towable sales leader through February with a 57.6% market share, ahead of Forest River Inc. which notched a 30.2% share.
Thor was the leader in travel trailer sales for the two months, posting a 58.6% market share, followed by Forest River (30.2%). Thor was No. 1 in Canadian fifth-wheel sales, capturing a 57.2% market share, followed by Forest River (27%) and Grand Design RV Co. (10.4%).
Forest River led year-to-date Canadian folding camping trailer sales with a 56.1% market share while Thor posted a 34.1% share.
