The Class C segment finished 2016 strong as overall motorhome sales edged up 3.6% in December while gaining 12.7% for the full year.
According to the latest report by Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI), Thor Industries Inc. was the motorized sales leader for the 12 months with a 37.8% market share, ahead of Forest River Inc. (24.7%) and Winnebago Industries Inc. (17.1%).
December Class A motorhome sales were flat, down 3% from the previous year, but showed a 5.4% increase for 2016. Thor led the category with a 34.5% market share followed by Forest River (15.2%), Winnebago (14.6%) and REV Recreation Group (13.6%). Tiffin Motorhomes Inc. was No. 5, capturing 13.4% of the market.
Class C registrations grew 11.6% for the month and finished 2016 up 20.5%. Thor was the sales leader year-to-date with a 40.9% market share, followed by Forest River (33.6%) and Winnebago (19.5%).
