Year-over-year Class C registrations were up sharply in February with a 73% gain, boosted by a dramatic jump in sales of rental units. According to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc., overall motorhome sales were up 21.4% for the month and 12.7% year-to-date.

Thor Industries Inc. ranked as the motorhome sales leader year-to-date with a 26.8% market share followed by Winnebago Industries Inc. (18.4%) and Tiffin Motorhomes Inc. (11.5%).

In the Class A category, registrations in February fell 7.5% compared with 2011 and year-to-date sales were down 4.2%. Tiffin held the No. 1 position for the two months posting a 20.9% market share, edging out Winnebago with a 20.8% share. Thor was No. 3, capturing a 16% market share.

Class C sales for the two months rose 44%. Thor held a commanding lead in February with a 40.1% market share, followed by Winnebago (15.5%) and Forest River Inc. (13.8%).
