March motorhome retail registrations rose 9.2% compared to the same period a year ago while sales for the first quarter were up 10.3%.

According to the latest report by Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI), Forest River Inc. was the motorized sales leader through March with a 27.2% market share, ahead of Thor Industries Inc. with a 26.4% share and Winnebago Industries Inc. owning a 17.5% share.

Sales in the Class A motorhome market gained 6.9% in March and 6.7% year-to-date. Thor led the segment with a 25.1% market share followed by Winnebago (17.8%), Forest River (15.8%) and Tiffin Motorhomes Inc. (15.1%).

Class C registrations, which included rental fleet sales, grew 11.5% during March and 14.5% for the first quarter. Forest River was the segment leader through March with a 40% market share, followed by Thor (27.9%) and Winnebago with 17.2% of the U.S. market.
