style=”color: #000000;”>                                                                                                                                               Retail sales of towable RVs climbed 15% in September from a year ago and 8.8% for the first nine months, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. Registrations for the third quarter gained 10.3%.

style=”color: #000000;”>”¢ Sales for the high-volume travel trailer sector grew 15.9% for the month and 10.9% year-to-date.

style=”color: #000000;”>”¢ Fifth-wheel registrations grew 15.6% in September and 5.1% for the nine months.

style=”color: #000000;”>”¢ Folding camping trailer sales were down 2.3% for the month and 3.3% through September.

style=”color: #000000;”>”¢ Recreational park trailer sales were up 2.4% in September, but slipped 0.3% for the nine months.

style=”color: #000000;”>Forest River Inc. was the towable sales leader through September with a 36.7% market share, edging out Thor Industries Inc. which captured a 36.3% share. Jayco Inc. was No. 3 with a 13% share.

style=”color: #000000;”>By segment, Forest River was No. 1 in travel trailer sales for the nine months with a 37.4% market share, ahead of Thor (34%) and Jayco (14.4%). Thor was No. 1 in fifth-wheel sales, capturing a 49.3% market share, followed by Forest River (30.8%) and Jayco (8.8%).

style=”color: #000000;”>Forest River was the folding camping trailer sales leader year-to-date with a 64.6% market share while Jayco (14%) held the No. 2 position followed by Columbia Northwest/Aliner Inc. (10.9%). In the park model segment, Kropf Manufacturing Co. Inc. was No. 1 with a 16% share, followed by Skyline Corp. (11.8%) and Thor (11.4%).
