Year-over-year towable sales showed continued growth for the first 10 months, climbing 9.4% through October, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI).
Results by category showed:
- Sales for the travel trailer segment climbed 10.7% year-to-date.
- Fifth-wheel registrations were up 7.7% for the 10 months.
- Folding camping trailer sales were down 6.7% through October.
- Park model RV sales fell 10.6% year-to-date.
Thor Industries Inc. was the towable sales leader through October with 48.8% share of the market, ahead of Forest River Inc. owning a 36.4% share and Grand Design RV Co. (4.4%).
By segment, Thor was No. 1 in travel trailers for the 10 months with a 49.1% market share, followed by Forest River with a 37.7% share. Thor led fifth-wheel sales with a 53.3% market share, followed by Forest River (28.7%) and Grand Design (11.2%).
In folding camping trailer sales, Forest River led the category through October with a 70.2% market share, followed by Columbia Northwest/Aliner Inc. (11.8%) and Thor (11.7%). Cavco Industries Inc. led the park model segment with a 22.6% market share, ahead of Kropf Manufacturing Co. Inc. (18.2%), Champion Home Builders (13.6%) and Skyline Corp. (11.9%).
