Results by category showed:
- Sales for the high volume travel trailer segment jumped 15.7% for the month and 19.3% year-to-date.
- Fifth-wheel registrations edged up 2% for May and 9.5% for the first five months.
- Folding camping trailer sales were down 14.4% for the month and 7.3% year-to-date.
- Park model RV sales were up 23.8% for May and 14.2% for the first five months.
Forest River Inc. was the towable sales leader through the first five months of the year with a 38.3% share of the market, ahead of Thor Industries Inc. which had market share of 35.2% and Jayco Inc. with 13.4%.
By segment, Forest River was No. 1 in travel trailers through May with 39.7% market share, followed by Thor (33.2%) and Jayco (14.6%). Thor held the biggest market share for fifth-wheels (46.3%) followed by Forest River (31.6%), Jayco (9.4%) and Grand Design RV Co. (7.9%).
In folding camping trailers, Forest River led for the first five months with a 61.9% market share, followed by Jayco (17.3%) and Columbia Northwest/Aliner Inc. (9.7%). Skyline Corp. led the park model segment with 16% market share, followed by Kropf Manufacturing Co. Inc. (13.9%), Fleetwood Homes Inc. (7.6%) and Cavco Industries Inc. (7%).
