Year-over-year towable sales showed continued growth for the first 11 months, climbing 11.2% through November, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI).
Results by category showed:
- Sales for the travel trailer segment climbed 12.6% year-to-date.
- Fifth-wheel registrations were up 9.3% for the 11 months.
- Folding camping trailer sales were down 5.6% through November.
- Park model RV sales fell 6.1% year-to-date.
Thor Industries Inc. was the towable sales leader through November with 48.6% share of the market, ahead of Forest River Inc. owning a 36.2% share and Grand Design RV Co. (4.5%).
By segment, Thor was No. 1 in travel trailers for the 11 months with a 48.8% market share, followed by Forest River with a 37.5% share. Thor led fifth-wheel sales with a 53.3% market share, followed by Forest River (28.5%) and Grand Design (11.3%).
In folding camping trailer sales, Forest River led the category through November with a 70% market share, followed by Columbia Northwest/Aliner Inc. (12.1%) and Thor (11.6%). Cavco Industries Inc. led the park model segment with a 21.2% market share, ahead of Kropf Manufacturing Co. Inc. (18.3%), Champion Home Builders (13.6%) and Skyline Corp. (12.4%).
