Year-over-year towable RV retail registrations grew 15.7% in June and 16.7% for the first six months of 2015, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI).

Results by category showed:

  • Sales for the high volume travel trailer segment jumped 18.6% for the month and 20.1% year-to-date.
  • Fifth-wheel registrations were up 7.8% for June and 9.9% for the first six months.
  • Folding camping trailer sales rose 11.3% for the month but edged down 1.9% year-to-date.
  • Park model RV sales fell 11.7%% for June but were up 9% for the first six months.

Forest River Inc. was the towable sales leader through the first six months of the year with a 38.4% share of the market, ahead of Thor Industries Inc. which had market share of 35.2% and Jayco Inc. with a 13.4% share.

By segment, Forest River was No. 1 in travel trailers through June with a 39.7% market share, followed by Thor (33.4%) and Jayco (14.6%). Thor held the biggest market share for fifth-wheels (46.2%) followed by Forest River (31.8%), Jayco (9.4%) and Grand Design RV Co. (7.8%).

In folding camping trailers, Forest River led for the first six months with a 62.2% market share, followed by Jayco (16.9%) and Columbia Northwest/Aliner Inc. (9.4%). Kropf Manufacturing Co. Inc. led the park model segment with 14.9% market share, followed by  Skyline Corp. (14.4%) and Fleetwood Homes Inc. (7.3%).
