Year-over-year towable retail registrations grew 13.8% in November as all segments showed gains for the month, while sales posted a 13.2% increase for the first 11 months.
According to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI), results by category showed:
- Sales for the travel trailer segment soared 16.8% for the month and 16.2% year-to-date.
- Fifth-wheel registrations grew 7.2% in November, while rising 6.1% for the first 11 months.
- Folding camping trailer sales edged up 2.7% in November but fell 2.2% year-to-date.
- Park model RV sales were up 5.8% in November and 7.4% for the first 11 months.
Thor Industries Inc. was the towable sales leader through November with 48.2% share of the market, ahead of Forest River Inc. owning a 37.2% share and Grand Design RV Co. (3.2%).
By segment, Thor was No. 1 in travel trailers for the 11 months with a 48% market share, followed by Forest River (38.6%). Thor led fifth-wheel sales with a 54.8% market share followed by Forest River (29.1%), and Grand Design (9.1%).
In folding camping trailers, Forest River led the category for the 11 months with a 67% market share, followed by Thor (14.4%) and Columbia Northwest/Aliner Inc. (11.9%). Champion Home Builders led the park model segment with a 17.3% market share, followed by Kropf Manufacturing Co. Inc. (15.6%) Fleetwood Homes Inc.(10.6%) and Skyline Corp. (10%).
