Year-over-year Canadian towable sales gained 15.1% in November, boosted by strong travel trailer performance, while falling 12.8% for the first 11 months, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI).

Results by segment showed:

• Sales in the travel trailer sector soared 28.3% in November but declined 10% year-to-date.

• Canadian fifth-wheel sales retreated 14.3% for the month and 23% through November.

• Folding camping trailer registrations rose 15.4% in November on relatively low volume but showed a 12.7% decline year-to-date.

• The park model RV sector shipped three units for the month.

Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towable sales leader through November with a 55.6% market share, ahead of Forest River Inc. which notched a 33.7% share.

Thor was the leader in travel trailer sales for the 11 months, posting a 56.7% market share, followed by Forest River (33.1%) and Gulf Stream Coach Inc. (2.5%). Thor was No. 1 in Canadian fifth-wheel sales, capturing a 57.3% market share, followed by Forest River (29.6%) and Grand Design (8%).

Forest River led year-to-date Canadian folding camping trailer sales with a 63.5% market share while Thor posted a 27.1% share. Woodland Park Inc. led the park model segment through November with a 36.7% market share followed by Forest River (22.4%) and Cavco Industries Inc. (2o.4%).
