The suspect involved in an armed standoff with McClain County Sheriff’s deputies at Sooner RV near Purcell, Okla., is now in custody. (To view a video click here).

News 9 reported that the identity of the suspect has not been released at this time, but police said that woman is a part ownner of the business. She was transported to a mental hospital for evaluation after the incident early Wednesday (Dec. 17) afternoon. Officials say the woman is in police custody but has not been arrested at this time.

The standoff, which lasted nearly three hours, started shortly after 1 p.m. when, according to the sheriff’s office, the woman, armed with a rifle and a handgun, fired shots in an office building at Sooner RV and at a car, before hiding out inside. No one was injured during the standoff, and all the employees were safe and accounted for.

Purcell police officers, Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers and officers with the Norman Police Department all assisted the deputies. A Norman police negotiator is credited for talking with the woman and bringing the situation to a peaceful conclusion.

No other details have been released at this time.
