Second stage vehicle converter Starcraft Corp. and its joint venture partner Tecstar have been awarded a contract to design, tool and manufacturer a series of accessory parts for General Motor’s Hummer sport utility vehicle.
The estimated value of the contract is $10 million and the accessories will be available as options beginning with model year 2002 Hummer units.
The accessories will be sold through GM’s parts subsidiary.
Starcraft and a Detroit-based engineer firm each own 50% of Tecstar and Tecstar provided $63 million, or 59% of Starcraft’s sales revenue during the first nine months of this year.
Tecstar was formed during 1998 to provide engineering and test validation services and to build specialty conversion vehicles for OEM customers.
