Retail registrations of motorized RVs totaled 2,204 in April, a 34.2% decline from a year earlier, according to Statistical Surveys Inc.
The Grand Rapids, Mich., firm reported that Class A registrations totaled 1,162 for April down 40.3% from 1,945 in April 2008, while Class C registrations totaled 1,042, off 25.8% from 1,405 in April 2008.
Year-to-date, motorized registrations totaled 6,615, a 45.7% decline from 12,180 through the first four months of 2008.
April was the first time this year that both Class A and Class C motorhome registrations each topped 1,000 units.
Thor Industries Inc. was tops in motorized sales with 501 units sold in April, besting Winnebago Industries Inc. in second and Fleetwood Enterprises Inc. in third.
Year-to-date, Thor and Winnebago were tied for first, with Fleetwood third.
In Class A, Fleetwood was first, Winnebago was second and Monaco Coach Corp. was third.
In Class C, Thor was first, Winnebago was second and Fleetwood was third.
