August motorized retail registrations fell 14.4% from a year ago, marking the 18th straight month of declining sales for the sector.
According to data from Grand Rapids, Mich., independent marketing firm Statistical Surveys Inc., overall motorhome sales totaled 4,062 units for the month compared to 4,747 in 2005 while year-do-date registrations decreased 13.1% to 35,952 units from 41,373.
The Class A sector incurred another double-digit decline, as August sales fell 16.8% to 2,548 units compared to 3,061 last year. For the first eight months, Class A registrations were down 16.9% with 22,108 units sold versus 26,613 a year ago.
August Class C sales dipped 10% to 1,514 units from 1,686 in 2005 while year-to-date registrations fell 6.2% with 13,844 units sold compared to 14,760.
