A double-digit decline in October Class A sales was tempered by a flat Class C retail market as motorized registrations dropped 9.4% for the month, according to data from Grand Rapids, Mich., independent marketing firm Statistical Surveys Inc.
Overall October motorhome sales fell to 3,486 units from 3,846 a year ago. Year-to-date, motorized retail registrations were 11.5% behind last year’s pace with 44,272 units sold versus 50,014.
October Class A sales dropped 13.3% to 2,265 units from 2,612 in 2005. For the first 10 months, Class A registrations declined 15.1% with 27,418 units sold compared with 32,301.
Class A gas registrations fell 13% for the month and were down 19% year-to-date while Class A diesel sales also dropped 13% in October and decreased 12% for the first 10 months.
October Class C sales totaled 1,221 units compared with 1,234 last year. Year-to-date, the sector dipped 4.1% to 16,854 units sold versus 17,713 the previous year.
