Preluding the heart of the spring selling season, February motorized sales dropped off 18.5% from a year ago as Class A retail registrations continued a string of double-digit, year-over-year declines.
According to Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Statistical Surveys Inc., overall February motorhome sales totaled 3,851 units compared with 4,724 a year ago. For the first two months, retail registrations declined 20.6% to 7,328 units from 9,224.
The Class A sector was down 23.6% in February with 2,532 units sold versus 3,312 in 2005, including a 16% drop in diesel registrations and 30% decline in sales of gas units.
For the first two months, Class A sales were 24.9% behind last year’s pace with 4,968 units sold compared to 6,613.
Class C sales dipped 6.6% in February with 1,319 units sold versus 1,412 in 2005. Sales for the first two months dropped 9.6% to 2,360 units from 2,611 a year prior.
