Marking the 17th consecutive month of declining sales, motorhome retail registrations fell 10.6% in July as another double-digit drop in the Class A sector more than offset a relatively flat Class C market.
According to data from Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Statistical Surveys Inc., overall motorhome sales dropped to 4,331 units compared with 4,842 last year. For the first seven months, registrations decreased 12.9% to 31,887 units from 36,626.
Class A sales sagged 15.4% in July, dropping to 2,589 units from 3,060 in 2005. For the first seven months, Class A sales were down 17% to 19,958 units from 23,552.
Both Class A gas and diesel sales decreased during the month, down 17% and 14%, respectively.
July Class C retail sales fell just 2.2% with 1,742 units sold compared with 1,782 last year. Year-to-date, Class C registrations fell 5.7% from a year ago with 12,329 units sold versus 13,074.
