RV dealers continued to close the gap in year-over-year comparisons of the sale of motorized RVs in November, Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI) reported today (Jan. 12).
Dealers sold 1,038 motorhomes in November, just a 6.7% decrease from the 1,113 sold in November 2008, SSI reported.
Class A motorhome sales totaled 637, a 13.2% decline from the 734 sold in November 2008, while Class C sales totaled 401, a 5.8% increase from the 379 sold in November 2008. It was the first time in 2009 that Class C sales improved on a year-over-year comparison.
Total motorized sales year-to-date were 17,779, down 36% from the 27,801 sold through the first 11 months of 2008.
For year-to-date, Class A sales totaled 10,342, down 37.5% from the 16,553 sold in the first 11 months of 2008.
Year-to-date Class C sales totaled 7,437, down 33.9% from the 11,240 sold in the first 11 months of 2008.
In November, Winnebago Industries Inc. ranked No. 1 in sales with Fleetwood RV Inc. a close second.
For Class A sales, Fleetwood was first with Winnebago a close second. For Class C sales, Winnebago was first with Fleetwood second.
As it has for several months, SSI warned that three states, Georgia, Minnesota and New Mexico, are experiencing delays. Their data will be placed into the correct months when it is received.
