State Trailer RV & Outdoor Supply (STS) is opening a new site in Peoria, Ariz. According to a report by the Peoria Times, STS purchased the 173,000-square-foot Peoria Towne Center and will set up a new superstore to sell RV parts, accessories and also offer RV service.
Peoria Economic Development Services Director Scott Whyte said his office has been working on the project several months.
“We’ve been working with two separate ownership groups,” Whyte said. “The group that owned that portion of the center, they decided to sell the property, and sold to an investment group. It didn’t go forward.”
STS has purchased the property as an end user.
STS is expanding its operations from Salt Lake City, Utah, and Peoria was a natural fit. The owner’s investment plans include renovating the entire development, which will include façade improvements, landscaping enhancements and a renovated parking area. STS will occupy approximately 60,000 square feet and will lease the remaining space to other users.
The store will be Arizona’s largest RV accessory superstore.
SSTS owner Ray Hult said STS was founded in 1926 by his step-grandfather. It has not stopped growing. In addition to the store in Peoria, STS is also opening a new store on Main Street in Mesa, an area he called “the No. 1 snowbird area.”
