Sunbrella, a respected upholstery manufacturer known for its durable yet elegant fabrics found on awnings, boats and outdoor furniture, is looking to expand its recreational vehicle reach as a supplier of acrylic fabrics for RV furniture makers.
Chuck Andrie, OEM account manager for Trivantage, the North Carolina-based distribution arm of Sunbrella, told RVBUSINESS.com that the company touted the benefits of Sunbrella-upholstered furniture at last week’s National RV Trade Show in Louisville, Ky.
In addition, Sunbrella will be hosting an open house from 5-8 p.m. tonight (Dec. 8) at the RV/MH Hall of Fame in Elkhart, Ind. The event will feature a product launch of the 106 Sunbrella fabrics selected for the RV industry as well as cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.
Andries believes that Sunbrella is a natural fit for RVs. Sunbrella fabrics offer durability, he said, as well as a wide range of colors, patterns and textures. He pointed out that Sunbrella is a well-known and well-respected name brand that’s been around for more than 50 years and offers an inherent marketing value.
“We’re trying to bring a new alternative to the RV industry with the Sunbrella acrylic fabric,” Andrie said. “We have 106 patterns that our designers specially selected for the RV market.”
While known for its stain-resistance, Andrie pointed out that Sunbrella is equally known for its wide variety of fabrics and styles.
“We’re bringing new design and color to the industry,” he continued. “A lot of beige a and brown and black is used out there and we’re trying to bring some color and add some pop to the units. We believe that’s what the consumers want in their RVs because they want what’s in their homes.”
Invitations have been sent for the open house, but Andrie said anyone is welcome. RSVP your attendance by e-mailing [email protected]
