A patent infringement lawsuit between two industry suppliers over the retractable metal steps used on recreational vehicles has been settled and the case has been dismissed, according to a report in the Elkhart Truth.
Hickory Springs Manufacturing Co., Hickory, N.C., announced this week it settled the suit it brought against Elkhart, Ind.-based Flexco Products Co.
“The litigation has been settled to the mutual satisfaction of Hickory Springs and Flexco, the specific terms of which are confidential,” Hickory Springs said in a written statement. “Flexco has withdrawn the accused two-step unit and the litigation has been concluded.”
In the suit filed Oct. 7, 2004, Hickory Springs claimed that the Flexco 24-inch Double Step infringed upon the company patent titled “Step Structure For Recreational Vehicles and the Like.”
On the same date, Hickory Springs also filed a lawsuit against Lippert Components Inc. in Goshen, Ind., claiming the same patent infringement. That case has not been settled.
