TexasCampgrounds.com, the web portal for researching and booking reservations at private campgrounds and RV resorts, saw a 28% increase in unique visitors in January.
“Camping has always been the most affordable vacation option, and these numbers suggest that consumers are increasingly exploring the merits of camping this year as the economy continues in recession,” said Brian Schaeffer, president and CEO of the Texas Association of Campground Owners (TACO), which manages the site.
Schaeffer noted that the 28% increased in unique visitors was accompanied by a 21% increase in page views. “This means that people are taking more time to see what campgrounds and RV resorts have to offer in terms of facilities, amenities and activities,” Schaeffer said in a news release.
He added, “Private campgrounds and RV resorts are increasingly investing in accommodations to entice people who don’t have camping equipment, but still want to be able to enjoy an outdoor recreation experience with their families and friends.”
