The motorhome business – much like the automotive field — is pretty decent this spring for Tiffin Motorhomes Inc., Red Bay, Ala., according to Jerry Williamson, national sales manager. “It’s really good for us,” Williamson told RVBUSINESS.com during the late March Good Sam Rally at Arizona’s Phoenix International Raceway. “We’ve seen the market thrive and continue. We are not seeing a (gas-price-related) slowdown, even though we look at the economic indicators. We haven’t changed our pace at all and, hopefully, we won’t have to.” Fact is, Williamson was more interested in talking about Tiffin’s hottest coach at the moment, a 42-foot, tag-axle, $270,000 (approximate retail) Phaeton A-body released in February as a 2012 model on a 46,000-pound GVWR Freightliner chassis powered by a 400 HP Cummins engine featuring expansive carrying capacities, a fireplace and eye-level TV. These style points, along with a living area enhanced with an L-shaped sofa, are the sort of home-like amenities that, Williamson maintains, are catching consumers’ eyes right now. “This new living area concept allows us to be more versatile in how we can equip the options in the living area,” he added. “This is one of the reasons that the Phaeton is still the No. 1 diesel in the country. It was last year and the year before, and it continues to be right now, according to Stat Surveys (Statistical Surveys Inc., Grand Rapids, Mich.). So, we are in the sweet spot of the price point right there with the Phaeton — the right package, features and pricing.” For additional information visit www.tiffinmotorhomes.com.
