U.S. Interior Secretary Gale Norton’s recent announcement that the Take Pride in America program will be relaunched drew praise from Good Sam Club Executive Director Sue Bray.
“As a Charter Member of Take Pride in America, we were delighted to see this program come back to life,” Bray said. “Our members’ philosophy is very compatible with the program’s mission and purpose. Our annual Cleanup Day is an excellent example of how we maintain the integrity of state and national parks. It is a great source of pride for our members and a huge volunteer effort.”
Take Pride in America will become a major part of the President’s USA Freedom Corps Initiative, encouraging citizen stewards to take part in the protection and restoration of public lands.
“Good Sam Club members will be participating nationwide during the weekend of May 17-18 in a volunteer cleanup effort that involves hundreds of people,” Bray said. “Relaunching Take Pride in America could not come at a better time.”
The renewed Take Pride in America program will recognize and further volunteer opportunities for Americans to fulfill their commitment to serve others, assist the U.S. government in achieving the stewardship mission for public lands and public places and engage people in outdoor experiences. “Sounds like a perfect match,” Bray said.
