SEMA logoAn appreciable number of RV industry suppliers are turning their attention this week to Las Vegas and Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week, a huge convention combining the Nov. 3-6 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center and the Nov. 3-5  Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) at the Sands Expo & Convention Center.

While the 2009 SEMA Show caters to the performance, specialty and accessory sectors – mostly businesses focused on cars, trucks and SUVs — the sponsoring 46-year-old SEMA membership generally “consists of a diverse group of manufacturers, distributors, retailers, publishing companies, auto restorers, street-rod builders, restylers, car clubs, race teams and more.”

“The SEMA Show is the premier automotive specialty products trade event in the world,” SEMA’s PR department reports on www.SEMAShow. “It draws the industry’s brightest minds and hottest products to one place, the Las Vegas Convention Center. As part of the AAIW, the SEMA Show attracts more than 100,000 industry leaders from over 100 countries for unlimited profit opportunities in the automotive, truck and SUV, and RV markets.”

“SEMA Show 2008 drew over 50,000 domestic and international buyers through 2 million square feet of exhibits. The displays are segmented into 12 sections, and a New Products Showcase featured nearly 2,000 newly introduced parts, tools and components. In addition, the SEMA Show provides attendees with educational seminars, product demonstrations, special events, networking opportunities and more…” according to the website.

A glitzy event, SEMA typically draws a raft of celebrities, from noted hot rod designers to NASCAR drivers to 4-WD survivalists and car-and-motorcycle buff TV and radio personalities.

Ford Motor Co. and General Motors Co. will again recognize significant design achievements at the 2009 SEMA Show with their annual design awards.
