Thor Industries Inc. and New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani promoted the importance of prostate cancer screenings during a news conference at New York City Hall today.

Thor’s 39-foot Airstream Mobile Medical unit was parked in front of New York City Hall today to offer free prostate cancer screenings to men over age 40.

Building the mobile medical unit to offer the free screenings was the idea of Thor Chairman Wade F.B. Thompson, a New York City resident and prostate cancer survivor. Thompson was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1996 and survived due to early detection.

Giuliani was recently diagnosed as having prostate cancer.

The Thor mobile medical unit will make several more stops in the New York metropolitan area this week as part of a publicity campaign linking the importance of prostate cancer screening with Father’s Day.
