The Thor California subsidiary of Thor Industries Inc. will increase production of its Jazz and Mirage fifth-wheel brands now that it has purchased another 65,000-square-foot factory building in Moreno Valley, Calif.
The recently acquired plant at 14050 Day St. is in the same complex as Thor California’s other facilities, according to Tom Powell, president of Thor California, who was interviewed by The Press-Enterprise of Riverside, Calif.
As a result of the acquisition, Thor California now has 280,000 square feet of space on 26 acres in Moreno Valley.
Thor California plans to more than double output of Jazz and Mirage units to 18 a day, from the current eight a day, Powell told The Press-Enterprise. The company plans to hire about 135 more workers over the next nine to 12 months to build the additional units.
Thor California also builds 40 units a day of its Tahoe and Wanderer travel trailer, fifth-wheel and sport utility trailer (SUT) series in Moreno Valley.
The plant was purchased by Thor California for $2.6 million from Maestro Products, a window manufacturer that moved from the Moreno Valley area.
