The Thor California subsidiary of Thor Industries Inc. will increase output of its Jazz and Mirage fifth-wheel brands after it begins production around Oct. 1 in the 65,000-square-foot factory building in Moreno Valley, Calif., that it purchased this summer.
The plant at 14050 Day St. is in the same complex as Thor California’s other facilities, according to Tom Powell, president of the subsidiary.
As a result of the acquisition, Thor California now has 280,000 square feet of space on 26 acres in Moreno Valley.
Thor California plans to more than double output of Jazz and Mirage units to 18 a day, from its current production rate eight a day, Powell said.
“We definitely need it (more production capacity), due to the (dealer) demand,” said Brandon Alexander, marketing manager.
Thor California will need to hire 75 to 100 more workers to staff its new facility, said Bob Eggering, CFO.
But it will not take long to reach the goal of building 18 Jazz and Mirage units a day, Eggering added. “There will be minimal ramp-up. We’ve done this before (brought a new plant on-line), twice, actually.”
