Jackson Center Ohio-based Thor Industries Inc. announced the appointment of Gary Groom as chairman and CEO of Damon Corp. and the promotion of Bill Fenech to president of the Elkhart, Ind.-based motorhome builder, effective Aug. 2.
According to a press release, Groom, currently president of Damon, will “focus on business strategy, service, parts, financial, HR, and legal matters.” Fenech, currently executive vice president of Thor’s Keystone RV Co., Goshen, Ind., will concentrate on product design, sales, marketing, purchasing, production, and engineering.
In the wake of Bill Fenech’s exit from towable-maker Keystone, Jeff Rank, formerly general manager of Keystone’s Montana Group, will be promoted to vice president of that division. In addition, former Cougar and Hornet Group General Manager Bob Martin has been promoted to vice president of the Cougar/Hornet group.
Both will assume additional responsibilities while reporting to Keystone President Ron Fenech.
Also taking a more prominent role for Keystone through the transition is Keystone Senior Vice President Don Clark, who will “pick up any national accounts and matters that arise that require a single contact,” Ron Fenech told RV Business.
No other personnel changes involving the two divisions are in the works, according to Fenech.
“We are a decentralized company and this helps us to push the decision-making even closer to the company,” Fenech said.
Keystone, established in 1996, was acquired in 2001 by Thor, now the industry’s No. 1 towable builder. Thor acquired Damon in September 2003 for $46 million to bolster the company’s presence in the motorhome market.
