Thor Industries Inc., Jackson Center, Ohio, reported record sales and earnings for its fiscal year 2000, ending July 31. And, although its rate of growth slowed somewhat for its fourth quarter, Thor outperformed most – if not all – of its competitors during that time frame.

“We were the only publicly held manufacturer in the latest quarter that was up in sales and earnings,” Thor Chairman Wade F.B. Thompson told RV Business.

Thor’s net income for the year increased 17% to $36.1 million, and its total RV and mid-size bus sales revenues were up 11% to $894 million. Thor’s 2000 RV sales rose 12% to $659.4 million.

Thor’s fourth fiscal quarter earnings increased 3% to $9.7 million. And its total fourth quarter sales increased 3% to $235.3 million.

The company’s RV sales during the May-through-July period were up 1% to $171.9 million.
