Although Thor Industries Inc. has been one of the RV industry’s strongest performers in recent years, the lower sales and earnings it reported for the three months ended Oct. 31 indicate it was not immune to the industry’s slowdown.
Thor’s earnings declined 13% during the August-through-October period, the first quarter of its fiscal year 2001, to $8.4 million.
The company’s total sales declined 7% to $205.2 million.
Thor’s RV sales revenue declined 16% during the three months ended Oct. 31 to $135.9 million, although its bus sales increased 19% during the period to $69.2 million, according to Chairman Wade F.B. Thompson.
