Thor Industries Inc. announced today (June 2) record earnings on over $1 billion in sales for the company’s first nine months, ended April 30.
For the fiscal 2005 third quarter, the RV and bus manufacturer reported net income of $32.9 million compared with $32.7 million the previous year. Sales, which the Jackson Center, Ohio-based builder previously announced in a preliminary report, rose 13% to nearly $729 million.
Net income for the nine months was a record $88.6 million, up 20% from $74 million during the same period last year. Sales for the nine months increased 21% to $1.9 billion from nearly $1.6 billion the previous year.
Third-quarter RV sales grew 12% to over $662 million and reached $1.7 billion for the first nine months.
Thor also reported that RV retail unit sales in the first five months of calendar year 2005 were up 8% over last year to a record 36,038 units versus 33,507 last year. In May, Thor RV retail unit sales rose 18% to 11,171, representing the highest total for any month in the company’s history.
