The 39-foot Airstream Class A motorhome customized by Thor Industries Inc. for free prostate cancer screenings will be in Elkhart, Ind., on Sept. 1.
Elkhart will be the 55th stop for the mobile unit, which is the brainchild of Thor Chairman Wade Thompson, a prostate cancer survivor due to early detection.
So far, 7,000 men have been tested in the mobile unit and about 8% of those tested were found by doctors to have abnormalities. Those with abnormalities were advised to get additional medical tests.
The mobile unit has two private screening rooms and a medical staff will perform the tests.
The mobile unit will be at the RV/MH Hall of Fame at 801 Benham Ave., Elkhart, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 1.
